**[00:00] Mayor Myron Bailey:** All right, so uh, this is another exciting day here in Cottage Grove. Um, just in the last couple weeks here, we've had the opportunity to uh, do grand openings or ribbon cuttings for some new businesses that are coming to town. And uh, today we get to add another one, which is Home Choice. Uh, it's interesting, I've heard that Home Choice was looking at Cottage Grove for quite a while, looking at different spaces within the town, and they finally landed in the space which is just off of 80th Street. For those that are interested, it's right next to Ace Hardware across from G-Will Liquors. So they got a little strip center here and they took over a space here.
I should also mention that this, I believe now, is their 20th location in the Twin Cities. So we're happy and excited to have you become part of our business community as—as the 20th location here. The two—the two uh, specific gentlemen behind me, we have the district manager Dave Ross—now is that right? Rosa?
**[00:58] Dave Rosa:** Rosa.
**[01:00] Mayor Myron Bailey:** Rosa. No, I'm sorry. And then the store manager, Damon. Okay. And it's Del Castillo?
**[01:06] Damon Del Castillo:** Yes, sir.
**[01:07] Mayor Myron Bailey:** Oh my goodness. Those that know names, I always have fun with that kind of stuff, so I'm glad I got it for you. Uh, and so he's going to be running the shop here obviously here in Cottage Grove. And uh, before I do turn it over to others to speak here about this location, um, I also want to acknowledge that we've got our Cottage Grove ambassadors joining us here today. They're the ones holding the ribbon, so we're always appreciative of the fact that they're out there uh, supporting and—and doing a positive impression within our community.
The other neat thing that comes in—and it's neat when new businesses open here in Cottage Grove—you know, no one comes to them and says, "Hey, we want you to become more involved." I mean, I know the Chamber does, obviously. But a couple things that I wanted to note that I thought was pretty cool: one is, um, they're already in contact with the Friends in Need Food Shelf, and uh, they're going to be in the process of donating, I believe, up to two thousand dollars uh, to support the Friends in Need Food Shelf here uh, in Cottage Grove, St. Paul Park, Newport area.
And so right off the bat, I just want to say thank you for giving back to the community right as you're opening up in our—in our town here and in—in the surrounding community. And then the fun thing that I really like personally is uh, as part of their grand openings, they're going to be giving away a 65-inch Samsung 7 Series TV. It's a nice big TV. So uh, we're here today uh, obviously celebrating their grand opening, so I encourage you to stop by and check out—out and sign up for the drawing. So what I'd like to do is maybe turn it over at this particular point to the district manager, Dave, and maybe talk a little bit about, if you would like, about Home Choice—maybe hours and what you guys are doing.
**[02:35] Dave Rosa:** Awesome. Thank you, sir. Absolutely, right there. Uh, so yeah, obviously Home Choice, we're here, we've opened our 20th store here. We are a retail company; we sell furniture, TVs, computers, appliances. We help with in-house financing, so we can work with anybody that's looking to make a purchase—a very easy purchase options with financing, cash options, as well as layaway. Um, you know, we're—and we're here to help the community. So I'm happy to help with the food shelf, and to get the ambassadors out and everybody from the community—it's—it's definitely great to see. Welcome Damon to the team! He's been with the company for three and a half—
**[03:10] Damon Del Castillo:** Three and a half years, yep.
**[03:11] Dave Rosa:** Moved around a couple of stores, helped us open a new store. So we're excited to get uh, get going at this one and make this one successful too.
**[03:18] Mayor Myron Bailey:** Fantastic. And so what I—I would all just uh, you know, if—if you come in here and kind of walk around, you'll see a variety of different—you see like bedroom sets, I know they got an area in the back that's electronics. So you do kind of cover all things that somebody might need—kitchen sets, things like that, is that correct?
**[03:33] Dave Rosa:** For sure.
**[03:34] Mayor Myron Bailey:** Perfect, perfect. So I guess I'd just like to say from my personal uh, opinion, welcome to Cottage Grove and—and again, thank you for investing in our community. It takes a lot to open a business; it takes a lot of time, effort, and money. And having you now become our newest manager here in Cottage Grove running uh, Home Choice is appreciative. And I guess at this point we'll move to the fun part, which is ribbon cutting. And now—have you done this before?
**[03:58] Damon Del Castillo:** No, sir.
**[03:59] Mayor Myron Bailey:** Okay, so after three years you get to start this in Cottage Grove! There we go. So what we'll do is I'll hold this end and then I'll go three, two, one, and at one you can cut away and we'll make this thing official. Perfect. Sometimes... all right, you ready? Is all of our pictures ready? All right, so: three, two, one!
