Hey everyone, it's Logan here with a lowdown from this week's city council meeting. We've got two important updates to give you tonight and so we'll dive right in. First, the city council appointed Carson Thomas as the city of Rosemont's chief of police. Carson joined the city of Rosemont in 2022 as our deputy chief of police, having an immediate impact on our police department as he joined the team. He's been serving as our interim chief of police since October of 2025, and he's done an exceptional job in his six-month service as our interim chief, leading the department and the organization through a time of transition. Chief Thomas will lead by investing in our department leaders, by allowing them to flourish and grow. We've already seen that in his time as our interim chief of police, launching our drone program, our K-9 program, and really allowing folks to spread their wings and grow as contributing members of the Rosemile Police Department. In fact, Chief Thomas has been so wellreceived by the department that members of the department surprised him with a departmental order of merit. And Chief Thomas, on behalf of the rest of the Rosemont leadership team, I want to say thank you for the impact you've already had on the organization. We are so excited for the future of your leadership, your continued public service, and we know that you are just a fantastic fit as Rosemont's next chief of police. So, sincerely congratulations to Chief Carson Thomas. Next, the city council accepted the final report from Citygate, the fire department consulting firm that we've been working with for many months to do a deep analysis of the Rosemont Fire Department. There's a lot of great news inside of the fire staffing report. Reflecting on Rosemalt's deep commitment to professional training, a crew of highly dedicated, paid on call firefighters, achieving call response numbers and call response times that are meeting our standards. The fire department analysis confirmed that we have the appropriate apparatus to respond to the hazards and the structures that do exist in the city of Rosemount if we were to get a call. We were also really pleased to learn that we can achieve a 5-minute drive time to 98% of the city of Rosemont, which is a standard that the fire department consultant confirmed does not exist in very many communities. So great to learn that our fire stations are in the right location. We have the right fire apparatus and the right base of training to really ensure a wonderful fire department. The fire department analysis also showed that we have some abilities to continue to improve inside the fire department. Namely, the consultant talked about the challenges of modern America when it comes to being a paid on call firefighter. Not only is it challenging leaving a birthday party or a soccer game to go on a fire call, but also in a community like Rosemount, two income families with commuter type jobs struggle to be able to leave their work and come to a fire call during the day. So, the best way to respond to that and what the fire department analysis lays out is a phased approach to increase our full-time staffing in the fire department. The fire department analysis shows a phased approach where we could quickly achieve nine full-time firefighters. Those nine full-time firefighters would allow to have a threeperson staffed crew of full-time firefighters waiting at the station to be prepared to respond to fire calls. That full-time crew would then be the first apparatus on the scene. The secondary apparatus would then be supported by our paid on call firefighters, which will continue to be a critical part of what the Rosemont Fire Department offers. We're really pleased with the results of the fire staffing study. We're excited about the future in the Rosemont Fire Department. And I'm pleased to report that the city council continues to show strong support for investing in the fire department to grow the fire department in this full-time capacity with a combination of full-time firefighters and paid on call firefighters. and we can't wait to see what the future holds for the Rosemont Fire Department as we continue to provide the high level of public service in both the police department and the fire department that you've come to know and expect here in the city of Rosemount. So, that's it from this week's city council meeting. Please check out the full video online and we will see you next time.
