thank you and the boat is closed six it'll be six shades and zero days thank you we have council member Wes Moreland joining us and with that we are moving on to approve our motion to approve the minutes second by Dozier please prepare the vote the vote is open and the vote is closed six years thank you next on our agenda is the public comment we have three minutes the public comment is a uh anything that isn't on our agenda can be discussed and I see we have someone for public comments you have three minutes Mr Shakir a important and I would just like to maybe quote somebody was saying forward always and never backwards and um we got to be real careful how we concern ourselves about the public after we get in our elected seats public comments the public engagement should be enlarged not shrunk and I have seen that under the last eight years of new people coming aboard I think it's very important that we don't get associated with going backwards that we can go forward and something tells me that I think that's happening a little bit but um it has cut a lot of a lot of people out a lot of people go through a great effort to get down here and there's no parking and park in this construction got the tubes there blocking where people usually be able to sneak a parking place and get in but the public should have SS and if we don't if we allow public presence or invite public presence but we don't give them SS what are we really doing I hope that um that we can um take care of that matter it's nothing in this city that goes forward that does not integrate with zoning and what I'm worried about is the public transportation system that's expanding with speed into just 24 hours ago I heard a conversation there's going to be public engagement but prior to the speed in which rails are going forward and I think that y'all have heard what the public feelings were eight years ago 12 years ago when they had a line going down up and down Auburn Avenue where you had buses to go there to get there six minutes or 12 minutes there was no purpose people stood against it I had a trip in Charlotte where I saw and heard what the people thought about it where they had a train go down the same thing Atlanta did a mile and a half turnaround come the other way just the way to to the citizens who are mothers and fathers and who could use a better sidewalker use better housing protection but what we do we spend it on a rail and we talk about expanding rail that people do not want I know y'all won't be able to talk about it but for sure I want you to think about it because elections are coming up and citizens ought to know that they can make a change and if they do not hear the representatives talking about a change talking about in in engaging and empowering people instead of shrinking them down I think we'll have a um a new a new possibility of going forward thank you so we're going to move on to ordinances for first read there is one ordinance for first read that will be sounded in at our full Council which will happen on Wednesday actually because of the holiday Wednesday July 5th 2023 so no action is needed today and we don't have any second uh items for second read we have no papers and held that brings us I know that brings us to our general remarks um does anyone else have any general remarks happy Monday goodbye okay I do and councilmember Dozier I just want to wish my wife Claire Dozier a happy anniversary that's wonderful happy anniversary to the dozers and I just want to reiterate that we will not have um our full Council on Monday the 3rd as was printed maybe a month ago we did change it to Wednesday July 5th and I will see everyone you just make me look bad anniversary over the weekend but but uh but no one in my house watches Channel 26 so we're good well how well heron
