No description available.
agenda review this Friday city manager Bob
thank you mayor um on the first page we have three proclamations and we're receiving an award
we have been judged to be the best tasting water in the state of Kansas this year so so Bob if
I celebrate that yes go ahead I'll make a quick comment so it was at the Kansas water environment
annual conference and so I asked for this item to be added to the agenda 17% of kons get their water
from witcho that's one in six kons and so um I'm just going to make a few brief comments and then
hand it over to Don Henry and he and his staff um he wants to recognize so I just think it's
a fantastic opportunity to pause and thank our Public Works and utility staff who you know do
something that we take for granted every day and especially during the drought it's just
another opportunity to remind people of the importance of water but also in wit apparently
great tasting water so thank you on the first page also I'll note the may had asked about
this we've got the new language on public agenda reflects the council's actions that were
taken previously to allow to modify how speakers get on the agenda and the number of speakers
that are allowed so just a quick question it looks like no one has signed up for public agenda
so that means during this time frame anyone who shows up to the city council meeting that Tuesday
uh will be able to come up and sign in that's yes that's the way it's approved and uh that's
up to 25 minutes thank you okay uh page two unfinished Council business this would approve
um the nuisance party Provisions that have been clarified uh as uh they apply to Property Owners
so it shows the limitations in terms of property owner responsibilities uh for nuisance parties
uh excuse me and that's related to short-term rentals I'm not sure I mentioned that uh under new
Council business number one this would approve a $90 million uh issue of Health Care Facilities
revenue bonds for Presbyterian manners Inc it would refinance existing debt and then Finance
improvements at Several of their senior living campuses page three number two would approve
the 800 would excuse me approve an $835,000 project to upgrade Lighting in City facilities
and then also along a street Corridor that has experienced a significant copper theft and
we're putting solar installations there I saw on that item that there was um some garage
improvements is that the remaining portion that will be garage improvements if so which
ones that would be if funds are available if that's a possibility I remember correctly
let me look at the report make sure I don't misspeak it could be used for
garage improvements if we have fun available but the primary projects are the
city hall Bailey Street Corridor and the rec centers um number three would approve $14.4
million in water and sewer maintenance improvements number four would adopt new safety
standards for elevators and escalators these standards have been approved by the board of
electrical Appeals number five would approve a purchase agreement for the old Park Elementary
School for the creation of the multi- agency Center on page four number six would approve
a not to exceed contract in the amount of $2,749 and predevelopment
costs in the amount of $77,400 now it's broken down into three phases actually
three separate projects in order to be able to meet Federal requirements so the first project
will be for the winter shelter and our Target is still to be open before Thanksgiving or
by Thanksgiving the second piece of it is for the remainder of the Mac which is the intake
facilities and shelter and that is uh our goal is to be have that up and running I Believe by
the end of April is that right April 1 April 1 and then the third piece is the construction
of uh affordable housing and uh non- congregate shelter on the site and we're waiting
for notification on tax credit for that project on the non-consent planning
agenda the first item would approve a zoning change in District Six there's
been a protest petition filed for that one on page five number two is a resoning in District
three by the way it's correct in the report but it's still showing it's incorrectly showing
is District six on the agenda that should be District three the mapc recommendation um was
for approval the dab recommendation was for denial and the third item is the resoning uh
for the Mac there is a a slight difference in the protective overlay restrictions that were
recommended by m mapc and the dab it's all I have on page five nothing on page six nothing
on page seven on page eight number seven is a lease lease extension for concession operation
in clap Park uh that mayor that's all I have thank you very much any council member
