Holly represents the third generation in her family to serve the department, following in the footsteps of her uncle and grandfather. Holly's uncle, BJ Jungmann, served the department for 11 years from 2000 to 2011 and has— [0:47] **Narrator:** —continued his fire career and now serves as the fire chief for the city of Burnsville. Her grandfather, Gary Jungmann, served the department for 33 years from 1968 to 2001. [0:55] **BJ Jungmann:** The fire service is really born out of a lot of tradition. If you look back in the history of the fire service, it’s pretty cool to have a family that has taken to the fire service, and three generations have now served in the fire service—giving back to the community and wearing the badge with honor and providing service. It is pretty cool to have that tradition within our own family. [1:32] **Holly Jeske:** It means the world to me to be a third-generation firefighter. I love being able to see what my grandpa went through, what my uncle went through, and now what I’m going through and the differences. Like, my grandpa started off with the fire program and all that barely having a mask, and now we have masks, tanks, all that different gear and equipment. Seeing the differences between the two... [1:56] **Gary Jungmann:** Everybody had to buy a small computer and stuff. Going boots—you're lucky you got an old jacket from some other fire department. When it started there, it was a lot of fun. He did a lot of spaghetti dinners, a lot of dances to pay for equipment. It didn't just happen. [2:12] **BJ Jungmann:** You know, a lot’s changed from when my dad started, you know, many years ago in the 60s, to what it is today and what my niece will experience in her career in the fire service. So it means a lot to be able to look back in the history books and see what my dad has done and look into the future and see where we're going. [2:34] **Narrator:** [Music]
