2024 it is 7 o'clock P.M mayor liser is present and presiding along with representative ACO and Alternate mayor Pro molad for purposes of canvasing only two members of council are needed the first item on the agenda is discussion and action to approve a resolution to Canvas votes cast in the December 14th 201 24 city of Al Paso runoff election and declaring the results the resolution reads whereas the city council of city of Al Paso call for the 2024 runoff elections to be held in set City on December 14th 2024 to fill the expired terms in the office of the mayor three District representatives from single member district numbers three four and 7even and the judge for the Municipal Court number four and the vacancies in the office of District representatives from single member district numbers 1 and five for the terms as established by and in accordance with the charter of the city of Al Paso and the laws of the State of Texas and whereas the election officers who held said runoff elections have duly made returns of the r results thereof and said returns have been duly delivered to said city council now therefore be it resolved by the city council of the city of Al Paso that number one that the city council officially finds and determines that said elections were duly given that proper notice of set elections were duly given that proper election officers were duly appointed prior to set elections that set elections were duly held that due returns of the results of set elections have been duly made and delivered that the elections returns have properly been made out and fully certified by the officers of set election in the different voting precincts of the city and that the city council had duly canvased said returns all in accordance with law and the resolution theto calling said runoff elections number two that the city council officially finds and determines that the following votes were cast at said runoff elections for the following officers by the resident qualified electors of set City who voted at the elections for mayor Renard U Johnson 19,6 3 votes Brian Kennedy 15343 votes District representative number one Alejandra Al Chavez 4765 votes Monica Reyes 2766 District representative number three Diana Malon Roa 3,333 votes Jose Rodriguez 1,722 District representative number four Joe Chief molinard 1,792 votes Cynthia Boer Treo 2,137 District representative number five Amanda Cunningham 717 votes Ivan Nino 1,212 District representative number seven Chris Hernandez 1,981 votes Lily leemon 2748 judge Municipal Court number four Samuel FL ltis 15,8 186 votes Lauren Ferris 15,700 votes number three that in the case of the following offices the following persons who receive more than a 50% of the votes cast for candidates for such offices are hereby declared elected to such offices for the ensuing terms or until the elections and qualification of their successors subject to the proper issuance of certificates of election by the presiding officer and that the number of votes cast for each person who was a candidate for such offices according to the returns is shown in paragraph two hereof number for mayor Bernard U Johnson District representative number one Alejandra Ali Chavez District representative number three Deana Maldonado roacha District representative number four Cynthia boero District representative number five Ivan noo District representative number seven Lily lemon judge Municipal Court number four Samuel Flores number four that on fil in the city clerk's office and made a part here of of by reference are copies of the mechanical Precinct tabulations of the votes cast of the December 14th 2024 runoff elections to elect the mayor representatives for districts 13 4 5 and 7 and the municipal court judge Court Number Four showing the number of votes cast in each precin for each candidate number five that this resolution is adopted subject to the right of any candidate to contest such elections in any way provided by law number six that this resolution was acted upon in accordance with the law by the presiding officer and the City Council and was deemed by said city council that upon passage of the resolution it will take effect immediately number seven this resolution will be spread upon the minutes of the city council and the city clerk will record the amendment so adopted in a separate book kept in her office for such purposes adopted this 20th day December 2024 for the record representative Canales join the meeting at 702 and representative rera at 7:03 move to approve second hey um M Miss P just for the record uh we do have a quorum yes mayor we do have a quorum of council and we do have a motion in a second the motion was made by representative alternate mayor Pro Molin last one second it by representative duaa and this is to approve the resolution canvasing the results on that motion they're not signed in so we can do can we do verb I can do verbal yes sir on that motion representative aavo I molar hi Gales hi Rea hi and that motion passes unanimously now um Miss Mack just for the public knowledge on January 6 we will have a swearing in at the pla theater at 700 p.m. is that at 600 p.m. 6 p.m. so uh Miss Turner you're the only one here so obviously you're invited but the rest of the public will be invited at uh on the 6th of January at 6 PM for the swearing in of all the council members and the new mayor and with that you have a motion to adjourn so move there's a motion in a second to adjourn special city
