[0:01] **Michelle Volk:** [Music] my background is I moved here as a child 50 years ago so I have seen Lakeville as a very small City and grow into a very large city I'm extremely proud of this town and all the people that live here so my husband and I when we got married we decided we wanted to stay and live in Lakeville and raise our children here and we did so we raised three daughters here in Lakeville they went to the Lakeville schools and now I have I should say we have three granddaughters and one of them still [0:48] **Michelle Volk:** attends the Lakeville school so I'm um I'm a volunteer grandparent in the Lakeville school system I'm very proud of our schools and I'm very proud of this city so how I got involved in local government Community was gracious enough to elect me and I was on the school board for 18 years which sounds like a long time but it time flew by fast and then I realized that the community wanted somebody else on the school board that had children in the schools at that time all of us as board members no longer had our children in the schools and I thought I still want to give back to my community how can I do that and so [1:33] **Michelle Volk:** I was very fortunate that I ran for city council four years ago and the citizens elected me and so now I'm still able to serve the community in a way that I feel like I'm making sure that their voice is heard and that's extremely important that's the only reason I serve I really want to Serve the People I've always been a bookkeeper so I do some bookkeeping for some very small companies but it allows me the time to spend with my grandchildren and so I spend a lot of hours like people would call it babysitting but I don't I call it fun and so I do [2:19] **Michelle Volk:** that I um I read a lot so last year it's kind of crazy but I've read over 800 books so and I was a little surprised by that too but when you have a Kindle unlimited they're free so you get to read and read and read and historical fiction is probably my favorite so between reading watching my grandchildren and now I'm picking up cross Stitches the next uh Habit so we'll see how that goes you know one of the things that I'm really proud of in this city and we should all be proud of because it's very um rare is that we have such great [3:05] **Michelle Volk:** Partnerships with the Lakeville chamber and our business Community the school district and then the city we all work as a team bringing those three powerful forces together truly benefits the community in the fact that we are able to do things for our Lakeville citizens that we might not be able to do otherwise [Music]
