[22:15] **Josh Olsen:** it's tough for this 2010 time to come through and play more games and trying to try to compete here in the championship to have these two champions did meet earlier in the tournament and 2010 was actually up for most of the game before 16 came back and won in a double overtime and that was an exciting game that went yeah double overtime I guess after that it's sudden death ban it was a nice putting on some token pressure there for a second all right Carlson bringing it down it's like he's gonna use almost a whole 10 seconds you got a minute 12 left in the half here see how if they go for one shot they keep going or if they slowed up [22:47] **Rob Stuhmski:** so as 2010 gonna make a big run here in the last minute some pressing and pressure ooh we got a fire of the twenty ten so we'll have a five minute halftime here I thought we'd go through some of the history of the can Falls alumni tournament this is 39th year I had some great conversations with Kyle Rapp and Josh Dickey and Rob Johnson some other guys before earlier in the day but this is the 39th year so what can tell me about the previous 39 I know you're not quite that all too experienced all of them [25:46] **Josh Olsen:** Josh but nobody that want to computer down there talk to us Phil Jacobson he was part of that 1983 team that was down it they didn't win the very first year but they won the next two eleven eleven straight from one who's a 85-95 day one and every year everybody was gunning for him I remember in high school coming back and watching those games and it was any team that had them on the ropes it was exciting must-see basketball and most every year they defended their title and you know kept teams away and he said that that was what their team was just their year every year any combos for those eleven years it was just those guys from the class of 83 84 they were just 83 up class of 83 so that was a very good team like I said so Jacobson was on that one Marsten was on that team Ron's safe John Bennett was a very good player on that team very underdahl Steve Nelson and failing because I'm the team they had seven guys and they played those seven guys throughout every game [26:40] **Rob Stuhmski:** so do you know who started running this tournament back thirty nine years ago no that's what I don't know why yeah we were trying to figure it out and we know that Ron banks ran it for a number of years and weren't sure if the previous Ballmer basketball coaches ran it or not but I know it was they talked about you had the old cabin fever days and everybody came out the place was packed for all those alumni games now we didn't have the Fieldhouse then when it first started out but it sounds like early on you just found a way to find some other places to play it [27:25] **Josh Olsen:** a little different firemen have it kind of followed the Fieldhouse everybody it's the same location you get to have that basically all all school reunion with all different grades coming back and put in the same area you can kind of talk and you catch up before they built the Fieldhouse the games would be split between two or three locations my school have became going on the whole dome into the CCC you would have games and I'm occasion that have something down at the new elementary as well but like he said it was part of the cabin fever days and one of many different things going on in town at that point [28:12] **Rob Stuhmski:** so this year they ended up doing the first three rounds or for a few years since the Fieldhouse in the Fieldhouse to have all those games there was their large crowds there yesterday and oh the lion's head chili feed going on although they did have some good chili and some mac and cheese my two boys love mac and cheese I bought the sweet roll did they have the sweet dog in fall tradition if you have chili yo D sweet roll that was a mammoth sweet ball and I definitely drove it yes I know lion old roost ed said that the sweet rolls were gonna be from high quality bakery which is the top match to me ball so that was a fun to hear about that and so all those games went through and there was we have topped it off yesterday we had the boys basketball playing with Ellsworth right yes it was a sweep those really nice john pogue and falls bombers the 9th grade JV and burst the elk Emporia twins now is that something that a lot of the alumni that come back for sure go to that boys game at night tradition [28:51] **Josh Olsen:** I think was still working on it's neat that Jake Winchell goes to inputs and a home game for the boys or girls that night so the one that can come back that's a nice thing to see all the alumni come back Here I am with this game with all these kids that I and seventh-grade if you can believe that yes seventh-grade these guys were there so both 2010 mmm 2016 it sounds like this next year will be the in 40th and 40th Alumni Championship [29:30] **Rob Stuhmski:** now you brought us up into the 90s with that 83 theme what happened between there and mm what was the big moment [29:46] **Josh Olsen:** 83 got Heathrow on it we believe it's 1993 who'd be thrown the but then after that 94 started a good run and there were the dominant teams my whole class of 97 also that are really nice run but we're trying to go back to remember a number of titles we believe that 94 one about nine titles and a 90-70 we think is around 10 titles and then it kind of a fun moment for us we actually got short on guys so we joined our 94 and our 97 team together it's pretty fun basketball and that 97 team wasn't combined until we were 18 combined that's nice to see all the alumni come together from the older younger to combo opportunity so that you can have people come out here and do their best [30:32] **Rob Stuhmski:** now I imagine all these guys practice year round all the time right [30:40] **Josh Olsen:** I don't know if that's quite gonna be true there Rob there are some guys especially guys in college that get themselves in their intramural leagues they're going to the open gyms doing that some guys I remember Tom Rademacher one of the 92 guys said I play basketball two times a year Saturday and Sunday and that would be Alumni tournament Saturday and Sunday [31:01] **Rob Stuhmski:** so looks like we're gonna get on their way here for the second half 2010 is going to start with the ball they look refreshed they've gotten their Gatorades they've rubbed their bengay on and they're ready to rock it was a good smell of bengay on the bench for my 94 through 97 now it looks like Sam Bennett is in now 24 Mitch Anderson gets it on the way oh good jump on the threes oh he's fresh so there you go just like that we cut it to 2 [31:17] **Josh Olsen:** that's one thing about this 2010 I mean they're all three-pointers they get out of the game and in the game so quickly it's a good chance here's John Dirk's over the Schroeder Sieben our looking for the ball at Peterson on him Tyler banks from the corner it's the front of the rim bandit with three bone [31:42] **Rob Stuhmski:** here's a chance to tie or take the lead at the wings coming with them slowing it down a little bit nobody inside everybody on the outside we call this five out the seventh great team I coach [Applause] we go from having the five-point deficit to up one for 2010 so is this a thing where they saved their energy for the second half [32:03] **Josh Olsen:** maybe after that the chair game they decided that there and come in do a little rope-a-dope come a little slow in the first those two very similar styles of play between those two we both can shoot from outside but both not afraid to take it into the draft you can go for their own shot inside it's always great when they run the play before the player gets the ball beautifully alumni you don't do it's just how you play basketball how you learned and then running off script that's why five out is such a popular play
