City Council Recap: Nov. 18, 2025
No description available.
Hey everyone, it's Logan with the lowdown from this week's city council meeting. Two quick updates for you today and so we'll dive right in. First, at 6 p.m. the city's port authority met, which is the city's economic development authority focused on business growth and development here in the city of Rosemount. They did an important action this week that I wanted to make sure to flag during the lowdown. The Port Authority approved a grant to a local restaurant tour to open a restaurant called the Copperfield near the Sweet Needs First State Bank here in the city of Rosemount. The funds for this grant came out of an excess pool of revenue that the city had. So, not taxpayer dollars, but instead funds that were created by development growth here in downtown Rosemount that the state of Minnesota gave cities the authority to grant out to pursue businesses and retail establishments that cities are driving after. This is about a 6,000 square foot restaurant with an outdoor patio serving all day breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a full liquor menu as well. And they're looking forward to a spring groundbreaking event. So, really exciting to see a well-known local restaurant uh open here in the city of Rosemount. Up next, you've certainly seen our news about retiring firefighter Pete Lundell. If you haven't seen it yet, Pete Lundell has served the city of Rosemont for 56 years as a firefighter. Based on our research and everything we've verified, he is the longest serving firefighter in Minnesota state history. Certainly the longest serving firefighter ever for the city of Rosemount. Pete has gone over well over 10,000 fire calls, has mentored dozens of firefighters after serving 16 years as a fire captain. So we just want to honor Pete and thank Pete and really appreciate all he did for the city of Rosemount. The city council declared November 18th as Pete Lundell Day in the city of Rosemount. We want to also flag for residents. If you get a chance, go to the Fox 9 website. They made a great video interviewing Pete and his family starting his career here for us 56 years ago. So, thanks again to Pete and his family. As Chief Springer always mentions, the families that support our firefighters are critical and just as important as the firefighters serving as well. So, thanks to the Lendell family, Pete for 56 years. And with that, that was the extent of our city council meeting. Make sure to check out the full video if you'd like and we will see you next time.
