for the pledges of Allegiance let us bow our gracious God we come before you once again Lord just to say thank you father God We Gather today on this special occasion for this set appointment father God that you have installed upon councilwoman Martinez now father God as she began this journey father God you will order her steps father God that you will anoint her and give her the wisdom to do what is right for other peoples of District 11. father God we thank her family father God and ask them to give them the patience endure the tasks you have set before her now father God when it's all said and done we're going to be quick to give you the glory where it is your set appointment it is your doing in the mighty name of Jesus Christ amen amen foreign Council you have received a certified certifications of the tabulation of the official election returns from Tarrant County for the runoff election held on Saturday June 10th 2023 for the purpose of electing a city council member for District 11 of the city of Fort Worth Texas with the certified cumulative returns for such election the results of the elections are as follows Rick hearing received 1059 votes Jeanette Martinez received 1 528 votes as a result of the election [Applause] as a result of the election Jeannette Martinez was elected as city council member district 11. Marin Council the next action will be for Council to adopt the resolution canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the runoff election held on June 10th thank you Jeanette council members you have received returns of the June 10 2023 runoff election and a copy of the resolution canvassing those returns please show approval of the resolution by show of hands for the record all in favor I excellent the canvassing resolution is approved now it's my my great honor to present the certificate of Elections to council member elect Jeannette Martinez [Applause] thank you and join me on stage okay next council member elect Martinez her sister Gloria Martinez will administer the oath of office to the council member elect Gloria if you would like to come forward to the podium [Applause] eat after me I state your name hi Jeanette Martinez do solemnly swear or affirm that I will Faithfully execute the duties of the office of council member district 11. can be like four words City of Fort Worth of the state of Texas and will to the best of my ability Preserve I can't remember do solemnly swear or affirm do you solemnly swear or affirm that I will Faithfully execute the duties of the office that I will Faithfully execute the duties of the office of council member district 11 of council member district 11 City of Fort Worth of the State of Texas city of Fort Worth of the State of Texas and will to the best of my ability preserve protect and defend and will to the best of my ability to preserve protect and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States the Constitution and laws of the United States end of this state so help me God and of this state so help me God [Applause] thank you in honor for the first time to welcome council member from District 11 and the first Latina ever elected to the Fort Worth City Council Miss Jeanette Martinez [Applause] all right [Applause] Jeanette the floor is yours okay thank you everybody for being here I am overwhelmed at the amount of support that I have received through the campaign up to this day and I'm grateful for everything that all the calls all the emails all the texts that I've received I am blessed I want to thank my family Eddie my husband thank you for being there for everything ah for everything that you did to my children thank you for your support for your patience I love you my mom who is here who recently had her knee replacement and it's hard for her to be here but she's here and I gracias [Applause] um and thank you to team Jeanette this this uh you know this is folks that helped me throughout the campaign my volunteers donors supporters everybody who had a hand in this I'm ever so grateful commissioner Brooks thank you for being my biggest cheerleader you know um commissioner Brooks my mom and my husband were one of the first people that I reached out to and I made the final decision to file for this office um you know they just they mean the world to me um and while I didn't run to be the first at anything I am extremely proud to be part of a more diverse City Council to represent my Latino culture on this dice I look forward to represent all the people in this new District and will work hard to create change and improve our new District there is one person who's not here to see this and I know that he would be very proud of me my father Daddy textrano momento gracias [Applause] well that's just about the happiest city council meeting I've gotten to preside over each year of course are welcome to take pictures and remain in our in our our city council chamber for a bit longer but with that congratulations to council member Jeanette Martinez and your meeting was created [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music]
