We start off on April 10th, a Friday evening at Lively Point uh Youth Center with the uh Irving celebrating family game night. This is going to be a fun activity with a variety of games. There will be entertainment. There'll be refreshments. There will be a photo booth. There will be line dancing. This is very much a family evening event and it is free and reservations are not required. So that is Friday, April 10th. Then on the 16th of April at 5:00 p.m. at the South Library, there will be a a video shown again for the young people predominantly, but uh we would invite the older ones to come as well. And then on Saturday the 18th, Saturday morning at the Huffman building at 9:00 a.m. will be our traditional Irving trivia. If you've not ever attended one, this is the year to come. It is always interesting, the questions are interesting, and the answers are interesting. We welcome you to come and be part of the audience or to form a team of up to four people or to join a team if you're just one person. And you can do all of that by calling 9722523838 or email celebrating Irving atyahoo.com. I hope that you'll join us. Thank you. >> Thank you, Mary. Uh I'm here representing the entertainment series of Irving. Who's heard of ESI? Who's heard of entertainment series? Okay. We are celebrating our 70th season. We are one of the longestr running arts groups in Irving and you have helped fund the Irving Arts in the uh ESI for many many years. Our we could not do our season without your financial support. We are celebrating our last concert of the season. 70 years. It's hard to believe. It's going to be an exciting concert coming up uh March 21st at the Carpenter Hall. It actually starts with a small uh group of Silvertone singers. Who's heard of the Silvertones? Long-standing singing group here in Irving. They're going to do a pre-con uh in the lobby, I believe, followed by an exciting concert, Sinatra and Michael Bubé, the American Song Book. So, we hope that you'll come out and join us for our last concert of our 70th season. Also, for those of you that may be aware, a couple years ago, ESI began a partnership with Irving Youth Theater. We are actually the Irving Youth Theater is actually the educational outreach part of ESI. And my wife and I started that about three years ago with our first production of Ala of Aladdin. We are now celebrating our 10th show coming up in April and that is the production of Beetlejuice Jr. And so we invite you to come and see that as well. Have you ever seen an Irving Youth Theater production? I know the mayor is very supportive and comes out, promotes our our Irving Youth Theater on Facebook and social media. So, we appreciate that. We just want to make sure people are aware that we're celebrating 70 years. Next season's going to be even better. So, we hope you come and join us for our 71st season. And thank you again for your time. >> Thank you. [clears throat] At this time, if you please stand. [clears throat] The invocation this evening will be given by Pastor Sonia Dickerson from the Daypring Family Church here in Irving. [clears throat] Dear heavenly father, we come to you today with grateful hearts. We thank you for life, health, and strength and for the opportunity to gather together to conduct the business of this great city. We thank you for the city of Irving. You have blessed us with a beautiful city, a safe city, and a progressive city. And we are grateful for the opportunity to live, work, and serve in this community. Lord, we thank you for the leadership of this city. We lift up our mayor, Rick Stoer, and the members of the city council. We ask that you grant them wisdom, discernment, and integrity as they serve the people of this city. strengthen them for the responsibilities they carry and guide their decisions so they reflect justice and fairness and compassion for all who live here. We we ask that you guide the proceedings of tonight's city council meeting. Let every voice be heard, every viewpoint be given fair consideration and allow the decisions made to be beneficial to the cities to the citizens of Irving. Lord, we ask your blessing over every facet of this city. Watch over our neighborhoods and our families. Bless every resident, young and old, longtime citizens, and those who are new to our city. May Irving continue to be a place where people feel safe, valued, and hopeful about the future. We pray for our schools, administrators, teachers, students. Grant wisdom to those who educate and nurture the next generation. May our schools be a safe place of learning, growth, and opportunity. We ask for your favor over our infrastructure and the systems that serve this community, our roads, utilities, transportation, public works, and city services. give insight to those who plan and build and maintain them so they may serve the people of this city well. We pray for every city employee, our police officers, our firef fighters, our first responders, sanitation workers, maintenance crews, administrators, and all who serve faithfully behind the scenes. Protect them as they work and strengthen them in their in their duties. and let them always remember their service makes a difference in the lives of the citizens of this city. Lord, we ask for unity and peace in Irving. There will be times when our opinions may differ, but help us to treat one another with respect and kindness. May we all work together with the one common goal of making Irving a great place for everyone. And when tonight's council meeting is over, let all who participated reflect and say that together we have once again delivered exceptional service for the citizens of Irving. We ask these and all other blessings with humility and gratitude in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. >> Amen. [clears throat] Thank you, pastor. If you please remain standing, Mayor Prom Black will lead us in the pledges. Place your hand over your heart and recite the pledges with me. I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Honor the Texas flag. I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible. >> Thank you, John. >> [clears throat] >> Do you have a secret operation? >> No, we'll just pull it and we'll do the consent agenda and pull it. [snorts] [clears throat] >> The next item on our agenda is the consent agenda item which is items TW 2 through 22. Chen, do we have speakers signed up? [snorts] Okay, I know that we want to pull item number five. So, I'll entertain a motion for items 22 through 20 20 through 22 minus item number five. >> Motion to approve. >> Second. >> We have a motion to second. Would you please vote? [snorts] Make sure everybody pushed the button. >> There we go. Okay. Do we >> should we >> Let's push it again. >> Nope. Well, we can uh we can go old school. We have a motion to second. All those in favor, please say I. >> I. >> Any opposition? Same sign. Passes unanimously. We pulled item number five, which is resolution renaming Lat Park to Lat Spurlock Park. And we have a recommendation by the Lat Park naming committee, Councilman Sapont. >> Thank you, mayor. I appreciate very much. That's special this evening to honor both our history of a pioneer that was here in the 1800s as well as a friend, a friend of mine in particular that helped me understand when I sat on the planning and zoning commission with him. But more importantly, I wanted to thank very clearly the people that helped me get this done. My uh Mayor Stoer appointed three of us to be on the committee on the naming of this park. And I want to thank Dennis Webb and of course uh David Fath who helped me get this done with all our friends. But I want to also thank the council because it was unanimous vote for us to do what was the right thing to do to honor one of our patriots here. A gentleman that um we've all grown to know for a long time. But I also would like to thank our city manager Chris Hillman, our assistant city manager, Rachel Woods, and our director of parks and recreation Joe Mos. It was all this effort together that brought this day and this evening for a very special patriot who served in the second war in the US Navy when he volunteered in West bygon, Virginia as a 15year-old in the US Navy. And so it gives me great honor to not only salute a dear friend, but make a motion for a park that's going to be named under Lenote Burlock Park here near the corner of Growweller and Irving Heights. Mayor, my motion. >> We have a motion and a second. Would you please vote? I don't think we're working yet. So, all those in favor, please say I. >> I. >> Those in opposition, the same sign. It passes unanimously. >> When going to recognize [applause] [applause] [applause] >> [applause] >> Thank you, mayor. And that brings us to the end of our agenda. We're going to conclude here for a few minutes while we take a pause, a brief uh pause, and we'll reconvene for uh public comments in a minute. [clears throat] >> [music] [music] [music] >> Heat. Hey, heat. Hey, heat. Heat. Heat. N. [music] [music] [music]
