[Applause] hey everybody Chief brazan here welcome back to the Roseville Fire Department for a review in two in 2023 we responded to more than 6,900 total emergency calls a record call volume for the fire department and this number doesn't even include community events fire inspections and other training and community outreach we did throughout the year and thus far in 2024 we're more than 10% ahead of the same point in 2023 so we're on Pace for another record year so we continue to be really busy here at the fire department we're hosting our annual open house on Tuesday October 8th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. we'll have demonstrations fire station tours and other activities here at the fire station smoke alarms save lives period this year's Fire Prevention Week campaign is smoke alarms make them work for you it strives to educate everyone about the importance of having working smoke alarms in their home our fire cets continue to be successful in their development and training Endeavors we recently promoted one of our fire Cadets to a full-time firefighter allowing us the opportunity to hire an additional fire cadet this fall we hosted a live fire training in September this training is a big lift as far as planning and logistics for the organization but it is such a vital training opportunity for our firefighters we also invited several of our neighboring fire departments to come out and participate in the training with us this allows us to be better prepared for when we respond to emergencies within the community as many of you know last October we welcomed Ashes to the fire department she's been a huge asset over the course of the last year working on her training to become a certified service dog in May of this year she completed her certification as one of the youngest dogs to ever certify through Soldier 6 our training organization in addition to her time around the firehouse she's been busy responding to emergencies in the community and participating in our community events for the fire department she also took in several days at the Minnesota State Fair helping Region's EMS staff who are working in the medical Aid stations to have a stress the environment as they serve those who are in attendance at the Minnesota State Fair we continue to work with ashes on her training as she works into her therapy role for the firefighters and as we look to explore her ways that she can continue to contribute for our community
