A Winter Carnival - in Rosemount?!? #historyshorts #minnesota #winter
No description available.
In 1938 and 39, the Rosemount Commercial Club sponsored a one-day winter carnival. Hi, my name is Moren and I [music] am a Rosemount historian. The carnival started with the coronation of a queen followed by a parade, skating, sledding, [music] toboggoning, ice games, and even rides on a dog sled. Some featured programs included skating demonstrations with high-speed [music] skaters from Minneapolis and the St. Paul Figure Skating Club. It was estimated that [music] 3,000 people from all around the area attended each year. The population of Rosemont at that time was just over 1,000. [music] Crowds jammed the cafes downtown before the finale, a dance at Gity Hall. What happens [music] today is tomorrow's history.
