Hey Farmington, it's Karen here bringing you the latest with the Feed and Five. Get ready for a creative explosion at the Rambling River C Center's Arts and Craft Fair. Free and open to the public. Join us on Saturday, May 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Schmidt Mackie Arena. It will be a day bursting with color, creativity, and handcrafted charm at this year's fair. Whether you're hunting for a one-of-a-kind treasure, looking to support local makers, or just want to soak in the good vibes, this is the place to be. Over 30 talented vendors will showcase their handcrafted magic. From stunning photography and intricate jewelry to cozy crochet creations and gourmet goodies. Whether you're shopping for gifts, discovering your next favorite artist, or just treating yourself. Don't miss this feelgood shop local celebration. Come for the crafts. Stay for the community. Join your friends and neighbors for the 24th annual pond and park cleanup event. Individuals and groups are invited to do some outdoor spring cleaning in city- owned parks and ponds. The city will provide volunteers with supplies and dispose of the trash that's collected. Check in to pick up supplies on Saturday, May 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the city hall parking lot. Coordinate with parks and recreation or water resources staff if unable to clean up on this date. International firefighters day is a time where the world's community can recognize and honor the sacrifices that firefighters make to ensure that their communities and environment are as safe as possible. It is also a day in which current and past firefighters can be thanked for their contributions. This year it will be celebrated on Sunday, May 4th. Firefighters dedicate their lives to the protection of life and property. Sometimes that dedication is in the form of countless hours volunteered over many years. In others, it's many selfless years working in the industry. In all cases, it risks the ultimate sacrifice of a life. On the first Sunday of May at noon, please sound off and respect to past firefighters. This is a special time to stop and reflect on the sacrifices made by them. each hear when fire sirens sound for 30 seconds followed by a minute silence in memory of and respect for all firefighters who have been lost in the line of duty or passed on before us. You can also light it up red with red lights outside of your home. The mattress box spring drop off and document shred event will be held on Saturday, May 10th from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Farmington Maintenance Facility. Mattresses and box springsings will be accepted at $30 a piece, payable directly to certified recycling. Mattresses in good condition will be donated to bridging while all others will be deconstructed and recycled by certified recycling. Document shredding is free. Paper is shredded on site by a national association for information destruction certified shredding company and then properly recycled into paper pulp. This event is on rain or shine. Join Farmington Mayor Joshua Hoy as he presents the 2025 Farmington State of the City address on Friday, May 23rd in Pirington City Hall Council Chambers. This has been rescheduled from its original date in April. It is sponsored by Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce. 8:30 to 9 is registration and networking and 9 to 10:00 a.m. is the presentation. Please register for this event at dcrchamber.com.
