Apple Valley Vibe: Week of February 9, 2026
No description available.
Speaker 1: Ever since the parks
referendum passed in 2023, our park staff have been hard at
work planning and implementing improvements across our parks
and recreation system. Here are a few things to look forward to
in 2026. The Redwood Community Pool was an Apple Valley
favorite for six decades. Now the next chapter begins with a
brand new facility set to open this summer in June. Redwood
Park is being reconstructed with the city's first inclusive
playground, new courts, a redesigned parking lot, trails,
and the natural area with a pond. Redwood Park is expected to open
in the late summer of this year. At Hayes Youth Athletic Complex,
improvements are in progress and expected to continue this
summer. These include new natural turf baseball and
softball fields, expanded flexible space for other sports,
irrigation, and improved parking. Smaller but impactful
improvements are also planned. Cobblestone Lake Park Trails and
the Johnny Cake Ridge Park West pickleball expansion will wrap
up in spring twenty twenty six, while park signage updates
across the system continue. Neighborhood parks will also see
upgrades. Several parks are scheduled to receive new
playgrounds, refreshed courts, and trail improvements, along
with other enhancements this year during the spring and
summer. For more details, visit On January 30, the Apple Valley
Fire Department welcomed fire engine three into service by
honoring a long standing fire service tradition that dates all
the way back to the days of horse drawn wagons.
Firefighters, along with a few helpers, worked together to push
the engine into the bay. Later that same evening, fire
engine three answered its first call for service. While
firefighting equipment has evolved over time, the values
behind this tradition have stayed true. Teamwork, service,
and pride remain at the heart of the fire department as fire
engine three officially joins the fleet serving the Apple
Valley community. And finally, a reminder that our city offices
will be closed on Monday, February 16 in recognition of
Presidents' Day. And that's the latest vibe in Apple Valley. Stay up to date by visiting our
