Lakeville Interview with Councilmember Dan Wolter - March 2023

[0:01] Dan Wolter: [Music] my name is Dan Walter I have lived in the city of Lakeville for two years but in Northern Dakota County for the last 20. I lived in Burnsville lived in Eagan and now lived in live in Lakeville live in the North far northern part of of Lakeville close to Crystal Lake in a house with it's just me and two dogs and two cats so I'm an animal person I work at Hyvee for the the the grocery store chain I do government and community relations for for HyVee in Minnesota South Dakota and Wisconsin so I work work at the state capitol quite a bit local working with City governments and and and others so I wanted to serve on
[0:48] Dan Wolter: the city council because I have a a long passion for for serving my community for the quality of life for making sure that the community that I live in has the best quality of life that we're making decisions and actions that protect that quality of your life and improve it and Lakeville is a remarkable Community fastest growing community in the city of in the state of Minnesota and we've got great schools we've got a wonderful Park system and because of that growth we have some huge opportunities and I'm just excited about the chance to be at the Forefront of those decisions I enjoy the outdoors I love the state of Minnesota we have so many natural Treasures in this state I I'm an avid bicyclist I just this year bought an RV which is a lot of like a lot of people
[1:33] Dan Wolter: during covid we bought RVs so I'm trying to figure out the uh how to Camp uh and and I really just wanted to use it to explore the Midwest and to see more of the treasures that we have uh in our natural environment for me as a new council member I want the people of Lakeville to know that I'm a good listener I think the most important thing that you can represent in an elected office in an appointed office is to make sure that you're listening to the people and their concerns and that every decision is couched in in in where the community's at and and the views that they have and so I want people to know that they can reach out to me I will respond I would love to know what they think about the important issues impacting our community about growth about Public Safety about
[2:19] Dan Wolter: the environment about the whole array of issues they've got a a listening ear here and I think that's the most important part of leadership you can't lead if you don't listen and that's a rule that I've always brought to my professional life [Music] foreign [Music]
