City Council Recap: July 21, 2026

No description available.

Hey everyone, it's Logan here with a lowdown from this week's city council meeting. The key thing to discuss in this week's video is the city council received its 2025 audited financial statements. Each year, the city hires an independent audit firm of LB Carlson to complete a thorough review of the city's financial statements and internal controls. This review ensures compliance with Minnesota government finance standards and prepares us for their review as well. We're pleased to report that the auditors were able to issue an unmodified or clean opinion of the city's financial statements. This means that no discrepancies were found in the reports and they were further able to verify that no material weaknesses exist in the city's internal controls. This confirms that our staff duties are appropriately separated to ensure independent review of financial activity internally with multiple layers of review. I would highly encourage any of you who are more interested in the city's financial situation to check out the full video online. The auditor takes about 20 minutes to go in deep detail about this and does a nice job of succinctly explaining the city's audit from 2025. This is a lot of work. It takes a lot of time to prepare all of our financial statements and we could not get it done without our wonderful team of accountants and finance professionals. This team is led by our administrative services director, Tia Malikica, who puts in countless hours as well, preparing the team to do this work, guiding us all through our financial work here at the city of Rosemount and ensuring that we are well prepared to annually pass our financial audit. Once again, thanks to this team for all their great work on our annual audit. This is a critical part of city government that often goes unappreciated, but is very important in what what we do. As you all know, it's Leprechaun Days week as well. So, we look forward to seeing you out at the Midsummer Fair. the parade on Saturday. Have a great time. Make sure to stop by the city's booth out at the Midsummer Fair to ask any questions and get some more information. Check out the full video on YouTube as always and we'll see you next time.
