[music] [music] Good evening. Tonight is March 2nd. This is a special regular meeting of the Minnitonka City Council. Call this meeting to order. Uh please stand for the pledge. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Miss Domen, please call roll. Uh, agenda item 4A and that's the appointment of Amanda Maxwell as Ward 2 council member. Uh, Mr. Nelson, >> I can take it. Miss Salman, sorry. I apologize. >> I'll take it. I'm going to run through just a quick overview of how we got here tonight and then we'll move forward with a recommendation. recommendation this evening is the motion to appoint Amanda Maxwell as our war two council member. A quick overview um as the election of Rebecca Shaq as mayor created a war 2 vacancy. The term does run through January 3rd, 2028. Council selected the appointment process on January 12th, 2026 and we have until this Friday, March 6 to get this appointment done. Again, we went through outreach and applications. Um the outreach concluded on or began on January 16th. We did website, social media, we did email, we did an article in our community connections to apartment buildings and we had applications available in multiple locations. We did receive 20 applications. A subcommittee lesson quorum did meet and they brought the candidates down to five for interviews. We did hold two special meetings on February 20th and February 23rd to conduct those interviews. The interview um were held and Amanda Maxwell is being appointed as a W 2 city council representative and that is based on two different ratings the council did pri or post interview. The highest average rating was 9.60 and Amanda's highest average ranking was 1.6 which was the highest ranking and the lowest average. So with that we would direct staff to make a motion to appoint Amanda Maxwell as a war two council member. With that, mayor, I'll turn it back to you. >> Thank you, Miss Dman. Uh, council. Who knows? um but with with a regular meeting just to have it a little bit more um formal and but you are officially council member and if you want to provide any comments you're welcome to but do not feel any pressure. [gasps] Uh I'd like to say thank you to the council for putting a lot of consideration into this process. I know it wasn't easy and it's a long term to to fill and I appreciate the care that you took in selecting uh applicants, reaching out to as many people as possible. Um, and I'll do my best to uh represent the uh people of my ward. >> Well, great. Welcome and thank you for being willing to serve. All right, council.
