good evening ladies and gentlemen it is 5 30 and i will call this regular meeting of the burnsville city council to order the clerk would just note that all council members are present it is our tradition to stand for a moment of silence followed by the pledge of allegiance and we invite you to join us i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all we are still in a global pandemic and we are still creating innovative ways and solutions for us to communicate and to ensure transparency in the work that we do so tonight's meeting is being conducted in person our council our city council members and staff are in the council chambers and practicing social distancing members of the public may attend in person if they like they may also watch this meeting online at burnsvillemn.gov meetings or comcast channel 16 or 859 if you would like to participate during the meeting remotely you may join online at zoom dot u s slash join or call in at 651-372-8299 callers will need to dial star 9 to raise their hand to speak and dial star 6 to unmute when we open a time for comments more information is available in our meetings web page and in the council agenda package and now we will move on to the next item on the agenda and the next item on the agenda is our announcements our announcements have to do with all of our upcoming meetings regular council meetings are scheduled for tuesday november 17th at 5 30 pm and tuesday december 8th at 5 30 pm we have a work session that's scheduled for tuesday on november 10th but that meeting is cancelled tuesday november 24th at 5 30 pm and we have a special meeting to canvas the general election results on friday november 13th at 1 pm and we have one proclamation this evening and that proclamation is america recycles day whereas the city of burnsville is committed to developing a sustainable community community by enhancing economic opportunity and community well-being while protecting and restoring our natural environment and whereas recycling and buying recycled products are a part of the strategy for a sustainable community because recycling protects our environment is a wise use of our natural resources and supports the economic well-being of our nation and whereas participating in america recycles day 2020 is one way citizens can help raise awareness about the need to reduce waste by recycling and buying recycled products now therefore i elizabeth coutts mayor of the city of burnsville on behalf of the city council do hereby proclaim friday november 15 2020 to be america recycles day and call upon all residents of the city of burnsville to join in the celebration of this important date by doing your part and recycling your old shoes all types of shoes will be accepted in any condition at the burnsville civic center campus monday november 9th through monday november 16th the shoes will either be reused or recycled into new products proclaimed the second day of november 2020. the next item on the agenda is citizens comments this is the opportunity for anyone in the audience or watching online to address the council on an item that is not on the printed agenda and not an application form that will be coming before us at a future date is there anyone who wishes to address the council is there anyone online miss hamilton okay um seeing no one we will move on the next item is for emergency items to be added to the final agenda miss mescali are there any emergency items they're not madam mayor members of the council thank you we now move on to the consent agenda the consent agenda is a group of items that's considered to be routine and will be enacted by one motion however an item on a consent agenda can be removed for a separate discussion and vote is there anyone who wishes an item to be removed for a separate discussion and vote anyone okay miss burnsville check cashing llc miss um megan hamilton our deputy city clerk is presenting miss hamilton thank you mayor members of the council this item is to authorize the renewal of the currency exchange license for burnsville check cashing llc they were approved in 2017 to operate a currency exchange location at 2014 county road 42 west this license was issued and is maintained by the minnesota department of commerce according to statute the governing body will conduct a public hearing for any new and renewal applications from the department of commerce the police department has indicated there have not been any issues with this location this is a public hearing and i stand for any questions any questions for miss hamilton seeing none i will open the public hearing is there
